The camp will be facilitated by Dr. Courtney St. Prix, science teacher at Columbia Middle School, and a select number of CGPS alumni. The camp will be open to all 4th, 5th and 6th grade students at CGPS.
WHAT?
STEMcity 2022 will be an exploration of various parts of NYC where STEM activities occur on a daily basis. Each day will be a field trip that highlights how STEM impacts our daily lives.
WHERE?
We will meet each day in the PS cafeteria of 36 West 93rd at 9:30 am for a quick orientation, then leave for a field trip to a number of places including the Liberty Science Center, the American Museum of Natural History, the Queens Zoo, theNew York Hall of Science, the Brooklyn bridge, the Intrepid Air and Space Museum, the Science Barge in Yonkers, and the Brooklyn Botanical garden. Please Note: itinerary subject to change depending on availability.
WHEN?
The camp will run for two weeks from June 13th to the 24th.
We meet each day between 9:00 and 9:30 am returning from our trips by 1:00 pm. From 1-3 pm we de-brief, break up into groups with camp counselors, and engage in various activities (watch a science fiction film, play table tennis, play cards or board games) making sure that we adhere to DOH guidelines. Nutritional snacks will be provided! Pick up will be at 3:00 pm sharp.
Deadline for submitting applications is Friday May 6th, 2022.
The camp covers transportation and (where applicable) admission to the sites visited.
Students Enrolled For One Week Pay $1,100.
