Last Monday, illustrator Joseph Santiago of Saint James Studios and his business partner Yamilca visited their son's fifth grade Core class with Stefanie Trepper to give a lesson on a crucial aspect of the filmmaking process: storyboarding.
The camp will be facilitated by Dr. Courtney St. Prix, science teacher @ Columbia Middle School, & a select number of juniors & seniors from the prep school. The camp will be open to all 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students at CGPS.
STEMcity 2020 will be an exploration of various parts of nyc where stem activities occur on a daily basis. each day will be a field trip that highlights how stem impacts our daily lives.
We will meet each day in room 102 of 36 West 93rd @ 9:30am for a quick orientation, then leave for a field trip to a number of places including the Brooklyn Botanical gardens, Prospect Park Zoo, the Brooklyn Museum, Coney Island Aquarium, the Brooklyn bridge, central park, the promenade in Brooklyn Heights, & the New York City Fire Museum.
The camp will run Monday to Friday for two weeks: June 8th – 19th. That’s the two weeks after school closes.
We meet each day by 9:30 and come back from our trips by 1:00pm. Then, from 1-3pm we de-brief, break up into groups with camp counselors and either watch a science fiction film, play table tennis, play cards or board games until pick up (popcorn and snacks will be provided!)
