Music

Columbia Prep encourages participation for students to expand their knowledge and love of music. In Grade 8 students are introduced to all facets of music from vocal and instrumental performance to music history and composition. In addition to their full year of study, students are given the option for individual private lessons on an orchestral musical instrument.

After experiencing a semester long sampling of music, theater, and art in Grade 9, CGPS students can continue on to take a variety of music electives such Music History, Music Theory, Advanced Choral Ensembles, Jazz Improvisation and more. Chorus and Orchestra are also offered during the day as a club, along with many other vocal and instrumental groups, including guitar and ukulele ensemble. The Music Department also performs 2 exciting musical productions each year. One for grades 8 & 9 and one for grades 10-12.
