Welcome to Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School! Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School’s graduates are living proof our students pursue their highest ambitions while keeping their spirit intact as they grow into vibrant, responsible, successful and engaged young adults.
CGPS is a family school, dedicated to nurturing, expanding and challenging the interests and passions of all our students from their first years in the Brownstones through graduation, matriculating to the top universities around the world. As one of Manhattan’s largest, most well-resourced independent schools, our dedicated faculty and staff make it feel like the small, student-centered neighborhood school it is at heart—and has been, for over 250 years.

Our classrooms are dynamic, responsive, liberating spaces that encourage exploration, reflection and excellence, providing the skills necessary to be successful in a myriad of ways.
We believe a balanced education can lead to a powerful life. We invite you to visit our Upper West Side campus, steps from Central Park, and learn more about CGPS.
