Please note: Pre-Kindergarten applicants must be four years old before September 1, and Kindergarten applicants must be five years old before September 1. In all other grades, similar birthday guidelines are in place and can be further discussed with the Director of Admission & Enrollment Management.

Please create an account with the CGPS application portal and check it regularly throughout the admission season to view your checklist and manage your application.

Interviews/assessments can only be scheduled after the following items are completed:

Before November 15, please self-schedule your interviews/assessments. These do not need to be completed before November 15, but they must be scheduled before then, as spaces are limited.

*Prior to the parent/guardian interview, please submit the parent questionnaire and parent statement.*

Once the above items are completed, links to self-schedule both the student academic assessment and the parent interview will be available in your Veracross portal. The parent/guardian interview may take place in person or via Zoom on a date separate from your child's assessment. We do encourage both parents to attend whenever possible. Parents/guardians will accompany their child on a brief guided tour prior to the one-on-one academic assessment and group play.

For students applying to Grades 2 or 3, a member of the Admission Team will contact you to arrange your visit to CGPS. The visit will include a guided family tour, followed by the parent/guardian interview and the student academic assessment.

For students applying to Grades 4 or 5, once the application items are completed, a link to self-schedule your parent interview will be available in your Veracross portal. A member of the Admission Team will contact you to schedule the student academic assessment, which will include a parent/guardian tour during the assessment. Applicants will return at a later date for an in-class visit and a tour of the School.

Standardized Testing requirements

CGPS requires the ISEE or SSAT for admission to the School.

For the ISEE test, your child’s testing is administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB) and should be arranged by contacting the ERB office through their website or by calling 800.446.0320 and listing our School as a recipient. Our school code is 333570.

For the SSAT, your child’s testing is administered by the Secondary School Admissions Bureau (SSATB) and should be arranged by visiting the SSAT site or by calling 609.683.5558 and listing our School as a recipient. Our school code is 2514.

Early Decision Information

As you may know, CGPS has a long-standing policy that demonstrates our commitment to families within our School community. If your child is eligible to apply, we are offering children of current families, children of alumni and children of faculty and staff the Early Decision option for ALL grades.

Please note: Students must be four years old before September 1 for Pre-K and five years old before September 1 for K.

Additionally, the Admission Office must be informed by Friday, November 14, of your decision to opt into the Early Notification. Please email Janet Barrett, Grammar School Admission Director, at jbarrett@cgps.org.

Notification Date: Friday, December 5, 2025

It is only through this Early Decision process that preferential consideration is given for Pre-K and K. We will notify families of the Early Admission decision in December. If you do not choose the Early Decision option, your child will be placed in the general pool of applicants to be notified in February and March.
