PS Welcomes Metropolitan Opera Ballet Dancer Shay Bland

Last Monday, the Dance Club hosted a special virtual dance class taught by guest artist Shay Bland. Ms. Bland, who studied at the Ailey School before joining Alvin Ailey Dance Theater’s renowned Ailey II company, currently dances for the Metropolitan Opera Ballet and teaches at Pace University and Marymount Manhattan College. For the first of what will be several classes with the club, Ms. Bland led students in a collaborative choreographic process, beginning to develop a piece that will reflect some of the feelings and experiences of the pandemic year.

Harvard Professor Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Lewis Delivers Equity Day Keynote Address

On Monday, April 12, the Prep School took part in Equity Day, an annual event devoted to reflection on identity, activism and other topics surrounding equity and social justice. To kick off the day of conversations and workshops, Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Lewis, a Harvard University professor in the Department of History of Art and Architecture and the Department of African and African American Studies, addressed the Prep School community as the keynote speaker.

After 3 Social Club Embarks On Virtual Tour of Mexico and Cuba

Last Wednesday, the After 3 Social Club continued its Cultural Trivia event series with a virtual tour of Mexico and Cuba courtesy of Grade 4 Coordinator and teacher Sonia Hernandez and her children, third grader Valentina and kindergartner Mateo.

3rd Graders Tackle Engineering Challenges

Third graders finished their second semester in science with an engineering unit. This unit provided numerous opportunities for children to do what engineers do, solve problems and figure out ways to improve designs.
