Middle School Promotes Students to the Next Grade During Moving Up Day
Marquis Austin

On Friday, the Middle School held its annual Moving Up Day to salute another successful year. “I could not be happier and prouder to be a part of this community,” stated Middle School Director Paul Baly during his introductory remarks. Mr. Baly went on to announce the Middle School’s pandemic time capsule, which contains letters, photos and drawings conveying the feelings students and faculty have experienced throughout this tumultuous period. Sent into lockdown, the time capsule will resurface in 2030 for future members of the Middle School community to gain a glimpse into what this time has been like for everyone. Later, technology teacher Damian Giorlando announced the recipients of this year’s faculty-nominated Head of School’s Award for Character and Citizenship—Skai E. ’25 and Connor B. ’25. The award recognizes students for their outstanding attitude, character and spirit. The advisors of MS groups such as Green Girls, Student Government, MECA and Lion Link also took a few moments to thank this year’s participants for their hard work. A seventh-grade video montage honored the soon-to-be Prep School students and recognized their lasting impact on the Middle School. Chorus showcased a marvelous virtual performance as well, which you can watch here. Toward the end of the ceremony, Student Government representatives announced the official promotion of each student to the next grade. Well done, Middle School students!
