CGPS Community Members Complete First Schoolwide Virtual Marathon
Marquis Austin

To keep us connected while also staying healthy and fit, PE teacher Venus Cooke and the athletic department recently launched the newly revamped CGPS Virtual Fitness Club, and members of the community have been moving ever since. At the beginning of this month, the club introduced “CGPS Marathon November,” our first schoolwide virtual marathon, and students, parents, faculty and alumni set out to complete 26.2 miles before December.

Over the past 30 days, kindergartener Aaron Z. impressed everyone and became the youngest CGPS Lion to complete 26.2 miles all by himself! Meanwhile, fifth grade siblings Adam and Ari G. finished the marathon challenge not once but twice! “These brothers are huge role models to all,” commented PE teacher Venus Cooke, who organized the event. Their sibling and alumna Emma G. ’18 felt inspired by her brothers and decided to join in on the fun, ultimately completing the challenge herself. Along the way, parents Natalya G. and Anna Z. were the driving forces behind these accomplishments!

Congratulations to them and everyone else who participated!
