2nd Grade Holds Online Family Heritage Celebration

Learning about community is a year-long topic in the second-grade curriculum. The second graders start the year by looking at their classroom community as individuals and learners. They do many shares to find out more about each other and create self-portrait collages. Next, they delve into their families as part of their classroom and the CGPS community. During this process, they explore their ancestry by making a family tree collage, interviewing people in their family, sharing traditions, making graphs and finally doing a research project on a state or country to which someone in their family is connected. This project involves practicing a variety of skills to research and create an online book. The second graders were thrilled to celebrate their learning, hard work and ancestries during this week’s online Family Heritage Celebration where they shared a video of them performing songs and their wonderful online books.
