1st Grade Scientists Cap Off Birds Unit With Creative Project

First graders have been learning all about birds! During their ornithology unit with science teachers Claire Rose and Beth Markowitz, the students employed their new knowledge to build nests and birds out of various art supplies. To bring their nests to life, they made torn paper collages to line paper bowls and added strips of crinkly paper to serve as the bedding. Meanwhile, Model Magic clay served as the foundation for their bird creations, each of which had a beak, two eyes, two legs with talons, wings and feathers. Head to Photos of the Week to see their work!
