1st Grade Gardeners Grow Romaine Lettuce

The first graders have been growing Romaine Lettuce! The students have been working as a community to water and care for their 'gardens.' They learned how to harvest the lettuce and how to use a salad spinner. The infectious excitement was contagious as the students ate the lettuce and discovered how incredible fresh vegetables taste! Some students dipped their leaves in olive oil, and they discovered that there are different ways to enjoy their salad. The grade is so grateful to Peggy Albright, who makes these meaningful gardening experiences possible.
