Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School (CGPS) is a PreK-12 co-educational school located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, steps from Central Park. The Early Childhood (Pre-K - 1st Grade) Associate Teacher is a unique role for talented individuals who are looking to gain experience and hands-on practice to become a successful full-time classroom teacher.
Associate Teachers have an opportunity to observe best practices in classroom instruction from experienced teachers and school leaders. Associate Teachers observe and learn from Head Teachers, co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide in-house substitute teaching coverage for teachers, and support teachers with whole class and small group student instruction. At times, Associate Teachers may also teach their own class of students, allowing for direct teaching experience within a more limited teaching load. The Associate Teachers will meet regularly with a coach for mentorship and to receive feedback on lessons and instruction.
The Prep School receptionist handles the front desk duties and responsibilities including answering, screening and directing telephone calls, greeting visitors, sorting through mail etc. The uniqueness of the Prep School Receptionist is the importance of keeping track of 600 Prep School students while creating a sense of authority, trust and positive rapport with said students. The receptionist provides assistance to all students, parents, staff members and visitors by either referring or directing them to the appropriate person for assistance. Position performs various administrative and clerical tasks. The receptionist partners with security staff to carry out the post responsibilities that ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and their families, faculty, staff and visitors.
