Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School (CGPS) is a PreK-12 co-educational school located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, steps from Central Park. The Early Childhood (Pre-K & K) Math Coach will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning in all content areas. The Early Childhood Math Coach will focus on individual and group
professional development that will expand and refine the understanding of research-based effective instruction. In order to fulfill these expectations, the Early Childhood Math Coach will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers and grade-level teams.

The college counselor will guide students through the successful transition to post-secondary education. As a member of a highly collaborative office, the counselor will report to the Director of the College Counseling Office and will work closely with the other counselors in the Office as well as with the Division Director, class deans and faculty. The counselor will maintain existing relationships with colleges and universities, both nationally and internationally, as well as cultivate new ones. The counselor will also be an active member in a number of professional organizations. This role requires excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

CGPS is seeking a Library Media Specialist to encourage literacy, maintain the library collection, facilitate and encourage professional development related to technology integration for teachers, maintain library computer and technological devices, and perform clerical functions related to the routine and preventive maintenance of the collection.

CGPS is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and collaborative math teacher to teach AP Calculus and/or Honors Geometry. Candidates should demonstrate an interest in engaging students with a problem-based curriculum while creating both a supportive and rigorous learning environment. A minimum of three years of teaching experience and an advanced degree are preferred. Familiarity with Mathematica, LaTex, and Geometer’s Sketchpad is also highly desirable.

Columbia Grammar and Prep School seeks a full time Honors Chemistry/Chemistry teacher. The ideal candidate would be able to take on Honors and general chemistry classes and adapt the curriculum to either skill level. This professional must also run engaging and well-managed lab activities, manage the inventory of chemical substances and lab equipment with attention and care. Experience or background in teaching other disciplines within the field is a plus, as are a passionate and collaborative attitude.
A Bachelor’s degree in the field is required. Teaching experience and a Master’s degree are preferred.

CGPS is seeking a Learning Specialist to work one-on-one with students in grades 8-12 within the School’s Learning Resource Center. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive academic guidance to emphasize the development of strategies to compensate for learning weaknesses, and to acquire self-advocacy skills. The specialist must be fluent in reading and interpreting psycho-educational evaluations to identify student needs, strengths and weaknesses, and must individualize instruction to help students improve academic performance and enhance academic skills. This professional will collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, the Coordinator of the Learning Resource Center and the Division Director, on behalf of each student utilizing these services. The specialist is responsible for writing comprehensive semester reports and communicating effectively with parents and outside professionals.

The Advancement Database Manager and Services Coordinator has specific responsibility for all Advancement database management, prospect research, and office support. As manager of the constituent database, this staff member works closely with the Advancement team, supporting each campaign and event, and manages the overall maintenance of all Advancement electronic records. In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, this staff member assists the Director of Advancement in implementing all ongoing advancement plans and initiatives.

The Prep School receptionist handles the front desk duties and responsibilities including answering, screening and directing telephone calls, greeting visitors, sorting through mail etc. The uniqueness of the Prep School Receptionist is the importance of keeping track of 600 Prep School students while creating a sense of authority, trust and positive rapport with said students. The receptionist provides assistance to all students, parents, staff members and visitors by either referring or directing them to the appropriate person for assistance.  Position performs various administrative and clerical tasks. The receptionist partners with security staff to carry out the post responsibilities that ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and their families, faculty, staff and visitors.
