Do you hold Spring tours?

We schedule our tours once we receive and process the applications. Applications are mailed out the day after Labor Day and are accepted up until the application deadline. (see Admissions calendar)

 

Do you offer a nursery school program?

We offer classes beginning at the Pre-Kindergarten level. Children must turn four years old by August 1st in order to be eligible to apply.

 

What is the application process like for grades Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten?

While children meet in a small playgroup, parents are taken for a tour of the grammar school. After the tour parents meet with the Director of the Grammar School and the Director of Admissions. We do not interview parents; however, we do encourage both parents to attend the tour. The entire process lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

 

What is the interview process like for grades Six through Eleven?

Both the Parents and student tour the Prep school. After the tour an admissions counselor interviews the student and toward the end of the interview the parents are asked to join in for any questions that they may have. The process takes 1 hour and 30 minutes

 

Do you require letters of recommendation for Pre-K and K?

We do not; however, you are welcome to send us any additional, pertinent information that you feel would be necessary in better familiarizing us with your child.

 

Do you require letters of recommendation for Grades Six through Eleven?

Yes. Candidate Recommendation, Mathematics Recommendation, and English Recommendation forms from current teachers are required.

 

Do you accept applications for grades One through Five or Seven, Eight, Ten, and Eleven?

We anticipate a very limited number of openings for these grades. We will accept applications up until the application deadline for Grammar School and Prep School on a wait list basis.

 

What are your testing requirements for grades Pre-Kindergarten through grade Five?

Applicants for Pre-Kindergarten through grades Five are required to take the ERB test. The test should be scheduled with the ERB office as soon as possible.

 

What are your testing requirements for grades Six through Eleven?

Applicants for grades Six through Eleven are required to take the ISEE test. The test should be scheduled with the ERB office as soon as possible.

 

What is your deadline for receiving applications?

Please see our Admissions calendar for application deadline dates. Interview spaces may fill to capacity prior to the deadline date; therefore, we strongly encourage you to return your application within two weeks of receipt.

 

Do you offer any after school programs or services?

We offer two after school programs/services in the Grammar School: 1) Extended day from 3-6PM and 2) A host of structured programs from 3-4:30PM offering classes in arts & crafts, cooking, dance, gymnastics, sports, science, swim, chess, and martial arts to name just a few.
